Feature Friday: First and Forever Photography
A few weeks ago, I headed WAY out west (you know, past the 270 loop!) and met with Iveta Dietz of First and Forever Photography. And the discussion that followed was well worth the drive!
Iveta is so very kind and thoughtful, and I loved hearing about her crazy story of meeting her now husband while both working on a cruise ship! In seeing so much of the world, she developed a love for photography, shooting all of the new places that they landed.
After making their way from sea to land, and finally to St. Louis, she missed photography and wanted to get back into it. So she’s researched and learned everything she could about newborn photography.
Her biggest focus is safety for the baby, but also spends enormous effort making sure the parents are comfortable and not rushed or anxious. And she takes some pretty beautiful shots while she’s at it…see for yourself!

Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
What made you want to become a photographer?
I always loved taking photographs especially when I was traveling around the World while working on a cruise ship. After moving to St. Louis, I really missed photography and as a teacher I wanted to work with children. So I decided to combine these two passions and started with Newborn photography.
What excites you the most about your work?
Creating amazing experience for my clients during their newborn session. Seeing parents happy and trusting me with their “most priced possession” and seeing the look at their face when I reveal their images for them. It brings me so much joy.
What is your biggest challenge?
Every baby is different and you have to approach them with love and patience. I always put the baby’s safety as my utmost priority. If baby is not comfortable in a pose never force it.
Tell us about your family
It is just me and my husband, Chris, for now.
If you could pick anything, what would your super power be?
Baby whisperer ☺️
What one piece of advice do you have for a mom that needs your service?
As I mentioned before, safety should be always the priority while working with newborn babies. For moms – make sure your Newborn photographer knows how to handle babies. Not all the babies can do every pose. For future newborn photographers – start with educating yourself regarding baby safety, posing, wrapping etc. before you handle babies.
