Here’s the Rest of the Interview:
What made you want open Kangaroo Kids ?
I had always wanted to own my own business. I had a baby and was pregnant again. I had been shopping at KKids and was a regular attendee at the Thursday lactation group. Then founder of KKids and I became friends and an opportunity came about where she asked me to purchase Kangaroo Kids and I did. There’s a lot more to it than that and it was it felt like serendipity. I think it’s what I was meant to do. I love (most) of it.
What excites you the most about your work?
Helping a mom and baby with breastfeeding, or pumping, or bottle feeding or baby wearing or whatever. Helping a mom find the right bra that actually fits well and puts a smile on her face. And yeah, I get pretty excited about a good deal. Buying and selling children’s and maternity items feels good for lots of reasons: a good deal and for everyone involved and giving these items another life and keeping them out of landfills.
What is your biggest challenge?
Balancing running a business and the rest of my life. I could work all the time. There is always work to do. And I like to work cause i love what i do. I have to be mindful about stopping and truly letting it all go so that I can enjoy the rest of life!
How do you find harmony or balance between being a mom and a business owner?
See above. It applies to all the aspects of my life. Be mindful. When I’m at work, I work hard. When I’m with my kids, I try to do the same. Work hard at being with them. Not checking my work email or doing book keeping. I’m not perfect at this but I try!
Tell us about your family.
My husband, Eric and I have been married for over 16 years. Our son, Enzo, is about to turn 16. Our other son, Lucca, is about to turn 14. We have two dogs that we are all totally obsessed with: Maggie and Phife.
If you could pick anything, what would your super power be?
Teleportation: wouldn’t be great to not have to spend time to travel? You’d just be there immediately!!!
